SUMMER COURSE FOR CHILDREN: SINGING & MUSIC WORKSHOP
Við Djúpið Music Festival is pleased to offer a summer course for primary school-aged children who enjoy singing and want to develop their skills further. The course is open to children and young people aged 8–15, regardless of gender or prior musical experience.
Participants will work in age-divided groups, exploring songs from a variety of traditions — both Icelandic and international — while gaining a solid foundation in music theory, interpretation, and ensemble collaboration. Sessions incorporate vocal technique and movement to develop listening skills, harmony, and confidence through choral singing.
The course will be led by experienced choir conductors, including those based at Langholtskirkja church in Reykjavík, who are highly regarded for their work with young singers.
Classes run from 18–21 June (Thursday–Sunday), culminating in a student concert at 1:00 PM on Sunday, 21 June.
Our aim is to inspire a love of singing, nurture musical growth, and give every participant a meaningful and joyful experience of making music together. All children and young people are warmly welcome.
The workshop takes place in Rögnvaldarsalur at the Edinborg House from June 18–21. The participation fee is 16,000 ISK. A sibling discount of 6,000 ISK is offered for each additional child after the first one registered.
