Icelandic composer Halldór Smárason and American composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone met in 2012 at the Við Djúpið Festival in Smárason’s hometown Ísafjörður, Iceland, and became close friends a year later when Smárason moved to Ludwig-Leone’s hometown New York City to study composition. Since then the two have maintained a close musical relationship, and have now teamed up to create a collaborative work called Tvífarar, performed by the two composer-pianists alongside their friends Eliza and Dísa. Tvífarar, which roughly translates to Döppelganger, is a testament to a friendship and mutual admiration ten years in the making.
